| The Lam Takhong Dam is located on the edge of Friendship
Highway (Mittraphap Highway), and it is about 25 kms from
Pakchong city. The reservoir has a storage capacity
of 310 million cubic meters, capable of supplying water for
238,000 rai of agricultural land.
This is an earth dam constructed during 1964 - 1969 as a barrier across
the Lam Takong River at Sikhiu District of Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
With the dam crest length of 521 m, dam height of 40.30 m and retention
capacity of 310 million cubic meters, the dam provides benefits in various
aspects including irrigation water for cultivated areas of 20,406 ha in the
wet season and 8,000 ha in the dry season, raw water for the water works
of the Sikhiu, Non Sung, Kham Thale So and Muang Nakhon Ratchasima
districts as well as flood alleviation in the Lam Takong and Lam Nam Mun
river basins.
